Losing It All, To Gain It All!!

Hello there!

It has been a while for me since I wrote a post of my own. Four weeks to be precise!!๐Ÿ˜‰. The aim was really to allow God to minister to you through other anointed writers and I do believe that He truly did! September was a missions month in my church and this was my little contribution of connecting with other writers. May the body of Christ continue to grow in all dimensions! Do I hear an Amen there?๐Ÿ™‹โ˜บ I feel so excited to do this again and to be honest I really missed writing like this. My heart’s prayer is that you are keeping well. And for those feeling kinda low today, how I pray that you experience God’s faithfulness in your life because He truly is faithful!!๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ’ƒ

So today we will focus on the story of Lot in the book of Genesis. He was a grandson to Terah and nephew to Abram (who became Abraham). Haran, Lot’s father, died before Terah moved from Ur to Canaan but decided to settle at Haran instead. Yes, Haran is both the name of a person and a place! ๐Ÿ˜‡ Now moving on swiftly ladies and gentlemen, these details are found in Genesis 11:24-32. Please do read!

Lot was the man who left Haran to Canaan with Abraham. He was the one who never released the secret that Sarah was Abraham’s wife when they moved to Egypt because of severe famine. Lot was actually the one who chose to live near Sodom when they separated with Abraham because of constant quarrelling between the two and also with their herdsmen because of increase in their possessions. He chose the whole plain of Jordan which was well watered like Egypt while his uncle lived in the land of Canaan. Lot was the man who was captured with his possessions during a battle between Sodom and its four allies against Kedorlaomer , king of Elam and his three allies. He was then rescued by Abraham and 318 trained men, together with all who were captured from the five defeated kingdoms. It was after this victory that we see the first recording of a tithe where Abraham gave a tenth of everything he recovered. The detailed story is found in Genesis 12 to 14.

The focus of this post is on Chapter 19. Just before going deeper, it is interesting to notice how LORD (Hebrew Yahweh) in chapter 18 does not come with the two angels to Sodom on the same day they all visited Abraham. To be precise they visited Abraham in the heat of the day (I interpret that to be in the noon time) and by evening two angels were visiting Lot. I love how Lot was quick to notice and discern that they were not ordinary men. He insisted so much that they visit his home until they agreed. He lived in a wicked place evidenced by the persistent call by the men to want to have sex with his visitors. With much struggle, he refused and was willing to give his virgin daughters instead. ๐Ÿ™„My friend, this is just another level!! ๐Ÿค”

I applaud the daughters who stayed pure despite the sexual immorality all around them but am not sure if I would be willing to give that up as their father offered to do. I still feel that he showed reverence for God and he must have had an influence in raising his daughters to abstain from sex that far. Reading verse nine tells me that the men put a lot of pressure on him for homosexuality. Here we have a man who is surrounded in the night by all men, both young and old who forcefully want sex with his visitors and he stands at the door and says no. Can you just picture this scenario for a moment? What would you do?

I can say he did “everything” that was within his power to protect his visitors who were not just any ordinary men but angels of the Most High. He could not afford to allow any harm come to them but rather offer what was precious to him. Anyone recall someone in the Bible who was willing to give up his own child?๐Ÿ™‹Yes, his own uncle, Abraham was willing to give up his own son in reverence and obedience to God. Wow! You know am just thinking about how many times I have struggled with what I feel the spirit asking me to do for God’s kingdom, yet hear I read of a man who wanted to give it all really for this same God. Unless you feel his offer of the children to all the men in Sodom was not. I have read of how others feel it was abuse, others say that the daughters themselves were catalysts to the offer, while others say he regretted living in Sodom. Well, I read the Word of God and I see a courageous man. A man who raised his daughters in purity in a very sexual immoral land and was willing to give that up to protect the messengers of Jehovah! I believe he raised them in such a manner out of reverence for God whom he knew through living with his uncle.

And do you know what happened when he had made up his mind to give his precious treasures, his virgin daughters? God delivered him and his family from the destruction that was waiting Sodom. The angels pulled him back into the house and struck blindness to all the men and gave time to Lot and his family to escape! Wow! I love this story! I am reminded that God made available the offering needed when Abraham showed obedience in offering his son. Wow! Just Wow!!๐Ÿ™†

What can be said of me in the area of giving? What can be said of you? I used to think am a giver until the story of Lot hit my mind one morning. I bet my lesson is that there is room for improvement. Great room indeed!!๐Ÿ˜‡

The Certainty of the Promise



Have you ever gone through a disappointment as a result of broken promises, or unmet expectations?

It is said of a certain commander that when he was marching to help a friend, his troops faltered:

โ€œIt canโ€™t be done!โ€

His answer was, โ€œIt must be done! I have promised to be there โ€“ promised, do you hear? You would not have me break my word!โ€

He would not be hindered, for his promise had been given.

We all admire men and women who keep their promises. Out tendency and proclivity is to trust and confide in people who have a track record of keeping promise!

The truth is that the promise of man is not foolproofโ€ฆ

Even trusted friends can disappoint!

โ€ฆ.and I am realizing that sometimes disappointment is a blessing in disguiseโ€ฆ

..Because it teaches you to expect little or nothing from man while fully depending on God!

Does Your Family Lineage Really Matter ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ๐Ÿ‘ต๐Ÿ‘ด ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿค”?

Hey there!

Hope you had a blessed and fruitful week indeed! Well I thank God for my life even as I spent most of this week unwell and had to take time off work. The headache still present as I type this but I know my God is faithful. I guess that is what is called encouraging yourself in the Lord ๐Ÿค’๐Ÿ˜‡๐Ÿ˜‰!! So here we go! Karibu sana (You are welcome in Swahili)

As I finished the Book of Ezra in my personal reading, I felt the Spirit move me to proceed to the New Testament instead of the next book of Nehemiah. It was a push to help me also appreciate the life of Jesus on earth just as I have done with the kings and events in the Old Testament. So obedience was a virtue that needed to rise to the occasion ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ˜Š!!

Did you know that there were 42 generations from Abraham to Jesus? Distinctively, there were fourteen generations in all from Abraham to David, fourteen from David to to the exile to Babylon, and fourteen from the exile to Christ…Matthew 1:17.The first chapter of Matthew clearly details them by name. Moving to chapter two and three only made me more curious and thus took me back to chapter one, specifically to the genealogy of Jesus. There should be some significance to this list as it begins the history of a new era. A new dispensation of the impact of the Son of God here on earth ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ™!!

It was quite conspicuous to me that the end of each set of fourteen generations, began and ended with such a significant happening or descendant. The first set began with Abraham, the Father of Faith and ended with Jesse, the father of King David who was the man after God’s own heart. The second set began with David and ended with Josiah at the time of the exile to Babylon. Remember King Josiah was the one stated in 2 Chronicles 35:18 as: The Passover had not been observed like this in Israel since the days of the prophet Samuel; and none of the kings of Israel had ever celebrated such a Passover as did Josiah, with the priests, the Levites and all Judah and Israel who were there with the people of Jerusalem. He was key to many reforms in his time and the Book of the Law given through Moses was found during his time. The third and final set began with Jeconiah (Jehoiachin), son of Josiah and ended with Jesus Christ.

It is without a doubt that God orchestrated this list for His glory. Yes, it does point out that God is in control of our lives and He knew us before being created in our mother’s womb but what else does the list show us? That God’s ways are better than ours. Yes, what else? That He is the Creator and Giver of all things; that He is mindful of man despite our failures; He still works out a plan for our salvation. That it was never a mistake that we were born in the family lineage we currently come from, whether evil or good, whether rich or poor, whether famous or unknown, whether religious or not. Rahab was the prostitute in Jericho who aided Joshua’s spies to bring down its walls and she became the great great grandmother of David. Am sure you heard a preaching of Rahab by now but that is not entirely my focus in this post.

What is the message that the word of God exactly trying to pass across by deliberately listing down the family lineage of Jesus Christ even before it details his birth and life? After reading this post, it confirmed my thinking that genealogies were important to Hebrews as it served as identification for them as Jews and the related inheritance of their specific tribes. I now recall Ezra 2:61-63
61 And of the children of the priests: the children of Habaiah, the children of Koz, the children of Barzillai; which took a wife of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite, and was called after their name:62 These sought their register among those that were reckoned by genealogy, but they were not found: therefore were they, as polluted, put from the priesthood.63 And the Tirshatha said unto them, that they should not eat of the most holy things, till there stood up a priest with Urim and with Thummim.

Yes, it was that serious then ๐Ÿ˜ฑ๐Ÿ˜จ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜Š!! What of today? Do we know our ancestors past our grandparents names’? Of what importance would it be to know your family lineage? It is vital to note that the ancestry line of Jesus was not full of perfect people. Not all of them had their lives detailed past the mention of their names. Your family lineage does not have to be perfect, for me it matters that it is a line. That is what stands out for me. Let the line of history exist whether of good people or not. As long as I am confident in God’s wisdom in placing me in that specific lineage, then I choose to remain hopeful. Hopeful for significant happenings in my lineage. Hopeful of the future. Since I have no control of my ancestor’s actions, my heart believes in hope for my descendants.

God is my witness of the number of times I have prayed for my generation who will come before me one after another until the day Jesus comes. That is how far my faith and my eyes see. I see my descendants being used of God way after my death and the lineage will never be cut even after the last trumpet call ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ™!! My purpose in life will transcend from generation to generation, all the to the glory of the Author and Finisher of my faith. My purpose needs therefore be combined with actions to keep this hope alive. Tragedies will come for sure but the victories will definitely override the pain and loss๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ’ƒ!! What do you desire for your descendants?

Am amazed at how much grace has been released for me as I type this on my bed this Friday morning. Read a Biography on Queen Victoria and Lee Kuan Yew, great leader in Singapore yesterday and I guess their resilience is rubbing on me. It may also be my current reading of the expeditions of Alexander, the Great of Macedonia which inspired me so very much this morning. Hope to write a post once am done. Was actually tempted to repost a previous post or share another blogger’s post but God is faithful!! Thank you Jehovah Rapha for your healing over my body. Am grateful for you are ever watching me to ensure your word that you sent fulfills its purpose in my life. You have brought me from this far, my Ebenezer and greater is my future in you Oh Lord. Thank you for being my Heavenly Father who never gives me a stone when I ask for bread or a snake when I ask for fish. After all is said and done you still remain to be God.

We All Need To Join This To Save Our Children ๐Ÿ‘ซ ๐Ÿ‘ฌ ๐Ÿ‘ญ!!

Globally, for the past few weeks, social media has been abuzz with the recent Royal Wedding in the United Kingdom, making watching the videos one of my to-do list in a few days๐Ÿ˜Š! So I am not going to delve into conclusions of the whys and why nots and definitely not the hows, though some are quite taunting already. On a lighter note though, I guess am glad wine did not run out because having to call Jesus to change water into wine would have added the extra spice in the online waves!!

In Africa, the news seem to focus on the Ebola outbreak in Congo and the struggles that people face when a country is faced with war while others are fighting against injustices. A good example currently is that of a Sudan teen who is now challenging the court’s decision to sentence her to death because of killing her husband who raped her...#JusticeForNoura

In Kenya, media stations seem to focus on our greedy authoritative figures who are only focused on filling their pockets as if they are so empty or full of holes. It is with much sadness that we can be so blinded to what is important…whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure,whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praise worthy, think about such things. Because if this becomes a habit, maybe just maybe, it would be possible to turn away from such wickedness...#NYSscandal #Maizescandal

In Nairobi and I would say in my personal life, the trending news in the past week has been about a conference at CITAM Valley Road, that focuses on family. This month is dedicated to Family teachings that are biblical and practical. The conference is dubbed Family Fest...#CITAMFamilyFest

So which of these do you think is the most important news to follow? Should that be the main factor when perusing the social media for news…that it needs to be important? How would we know it is so if we do not take the time to read it first? Which one will make God stop and attract Him to read through the whole content?

Last Saturday, I got to attend a Family related conference in my church, CITAM Valley Road from 9am to 5pm. However, almost at the end of the day, news of how people are using their global power and position to negatively influence current and future generations through dismantling family values was indeed my highlight and the purpose of this post today.

Comprehensive Sexual Education (CSE) is a strategy by the evil one to take adversely influence young minds and hence form a life long problem that will lead to international corporations making money from offering ‘solutions’ to the same problems they created. United Nations is at the forefront of this campaign that has already been introduced in various countries in the world.

If our children will be taught that sexuality is really their choice and them being born a specific gender may actually just be a phase, then I vote NO!! How does teaching children how to masturbate and touch each other genitals prevent teen pregnancies??? This is a very explicit program that defies the basic values of a solid family, leave alone a Christian one. Feel free to find more information about the contents. This is a call for everyone to join the fight against this wicked scheme. Yes, prayer is good, but I believe there is need to put our faith into action.

You can partly do this by signing the online petition. May you be convicted to not only sign the petition, but share this widely. As we remember:

Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

What If The World Had No Rules?

As I watched the evening traffic of Nairobi inhabitants and automobiles, I contemplated on a discussion I had with some of my colleagues on how mankind would behave on a universe with no laws to abide by. I pondered through the conclusion that without a doubt, it would be a place of chaos. I mean there is already so much confusion and disorder as it is, even with all countries’ long-standing laws, to imagine such a scenario was truly horrifying!

Since God is truly our Creator, is it possible that He did not know the full extent of our mischief? What would make Him create beings that deliberately look to bring disaster upon themselves and those around them? That, despite knowing our days and having them written down before the formation in our mothers’ wombs, He is still compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. Who does that???

I mean, what is the use of having people that you refer to as your children and they do not even pick up your calls to hear from you? What is the need of having children who go out of their way to prove that you do not exist as their parent? Why would any parent want to have children who seek to physically destroy the beautiful home the parent took time and effort to build?

There is a trend going round in the social media circles aimed at pointing out what parents need to correct as per “children’s’ perspectives. I wonder what the parents think of these children in the first place. If parents chose otherwise, would they be in existence today to speak as they do? How does God view all of us whether parents or children, men and women, boys and girls…cause we are all His creation, His Children?

I do not purport to have the complete answers to any of the questions raised above. My observations, however, include that of a mother going back to the labour ward despite previous delivery pains. That of God allowing more and more of such occurrences in this world despite the fighting amongst ourselves and daily devious seeking for worldly power.

If any of us was given a minute to sit on God’s throne, would you have the patience to tolerate any of us? If neighbour to neighbour, family to family, country to country, we detest each other so? What if you had the power to destroy the whole world at the sound of your voice? How much more would you be capable of?

It is definitely a reality that it is a daily struggle to love each other whether, parent to child, between spouses, amongst coworkers, neighbouring countries and in all continents. But what is the ultimate solution to this problem?

Well, the answer is simple. Love your Creator and He will be the guide to loving everyone else. He is willing to be your guide and even create a clean heart in you, if only you let Him. This is one of my greatest inner motives and no matter how many times I fail in the greatest of all commandments, there I boldly go back to Him for help. Remembering that He knows me better than I know myself and He has utmost good thoughts towards me.

This love shouldn’t be based on the Victory that He guarantees to His children as discussed in the previous post, but rather on the basis of who He is, The Great I am…our Heavenly Father. He deserves all praise, honor and glory. He deserves all our worship and we need to let Him in so that He can reveal His true self to us…The King of Kings and Lord of Lords!!
